CDRiE’s Aims and Objectives
CDRiE is a world-wide Eritrean civic movement composed of Eritrean professionals, academics, intellectuals and human rights activists with a long history of peaceful struggle for rule of law in Eritrea and peaceful coexistence amongst peoples and nations in the Horn of Africa region. CDRiE’s key aims and objectives are:-
1. To work for full realization of democratic rights of the Eritrean people, in particular, the broad advancement of the rule of law and constitutional governance that will enable Eritreans to elect their own leaders through free and fair elections, including full restoration of freedoms of conscience, religion, information, expression and association.
2. In pursuit of the goals stated in aforementioned paragraph, to be a unifying force among Eritreans in order to create a unified voice with a global reach as its main objective.
3. To strengthen Eritrean communities everywhere and to act as a catalyst in bringing about close working relationship amongst civic societies and democratic relations amongst political organizations and others in their individual capacity.
4. To work for the release of all prisoners of conscience and the right of other prisoners for fair trial and justice.
5. To advocate for the rights of Eritrean refugees.
6. To advocate for the cessation of violations of land and other property rights of Eritrean citizens including pastoral way of life and land rights.
7. To advocate for the PEACEFUL demarcation of the Eritrean-Ethiopian boundary in accordance with the 13 April 2002 ruling of the Eritrean Ethiopian Boundary Commission, and to promote the peaceful resolution of any other border disputes.
8. To advance the interests and welfare of the Eritrean people by fostering regional and international cooperation, and to this end to promote people to people cooperation, dialogue and networking with Eritrea’s neigbours.
9. To promote a culture of teamwork among different actors of the Eritrean body politic and, to this end, to offer assistances in resolving differences and disputes by way of reconciliations and arbitrations.
10. To create an Eritrean Think-Tank that conducts research and publish and organize conferences and seminars on various issues related to the aims of CDRiE enumerated above.
